The stock market, being as it is, can be a very difficult thing to understand. An average person ends up investing in it basically for two (2) reasons. They either see it as a form of gamble where you can either win or lose, almost instantaneously or as a long-term investment. It is highly possible that neither of them knows why they own a particular stock except that mass purchase makes it appear that the value is going up.
Contrary to popular belief, investing in the stock market is not a hit-and-miss thing or some sort of magic. The true benefits in investing in it can be derived from a better understanding of how things move as they do in the stock market. Investors or would-be investors can educate themselves in the nature of businesses and the stock market.
