I went skiing a few years ago for the first time and spent half of the day deciding on which I prefer – skis or snowboard. I ended up doing a couple of hours of each and they were nice enough at the rental place to allow me to switch gear mid day without paying extra even though this goes against their policy. At the end of the day I realized I wasn’t good at either one.
But I took my first full length ski trip last year and decided to go snowboard all the way. It took me the first two days to figure out what’s going on but by the end of the week I was not only getting better – I was totally hooked on the sport. I decided then and there that I would go back every year and hopefully more than once.
Now I’m the type of person who likes to gear up once I take up a sport or hobby and don’t like to relay on rentals too much. That’s why this year I’m hoping to hit the slopes with my own board. There’s a nice selection of boards at store.christysports.com and I think I will go with one of the burton snowboards. People are telling me that I should wait until I develop a boarding style before purchasing my own board but I’m not sure I can stand the temptation. The site makes it pretty easy to choose the right board and offers a nice selection according to manufacturer or boarding style.
Anyway, live life today and see you at the slopes…
