Living in the twenty first century with all the modern inventions we almost always forget what is really important. All of the luxuries and conveniences of modern technology will not be possible if we destroy our environment. Certain measures can, and should be taken in order to save power. Such solutions include solar and wind alternatives. Every other year twenty university teams from around the world, design, build, and operate livable and very efficient solar powered houses. This takes place in the National Mall in Washington D.C. This BP Solar Decathlon is sponsored by BP Solar together with the U.S. Department of Energy.
This year the event will take place between October eleventh and October nineteenth. This sponsored event is an effort in discovering practical solar alternatives to energy usage. BP Solar has been involved in this even since its first competition in 2002. BP Solar has created a blog for the competing teams, as well as others, to be able to write and post throughout the competition. This event is a great opportunity to try to change the environment, and make our source of energy much more efficient.
