Credit Card Consolidation - Choosing the Right Program

We have discussed the benefits and proper use of Credit Card Consolidation here at Credit Card Diva many times as a good solution for getting debt under control. But I wanted to bring you an interesting article posted at cleardebtsolution.com about certain things to take into consideration before applying for credit card consolidation.

Cleardebtsolution.com points out that there are a number of credit counseling organizations that can take advantage of the ignorance of some people on these matters and charge high prices for Credit Card Consolidation that are way beyond industry standards. Cleardebtsolution.com recommends being aware of credit counseling organizations that display a number of unfair practices. One of the things to be aware of is organizations that charge high up-front or monthly fees for enrolling in their program. Other programs may try to pressure their clients to make "volentary contributions" which is often a mask for extra fees that are not standard for the industry. Another thing to be on the lookout is for companies who ask for your personal financial information before they are willing to send you basic free information about their services.

Many good an honest credit counseling organizations do exist and it’s the ill actions of few who give the rest a bad name. It’s up to us as smart consumers to make the right choices.
