• Set aside the money the minute you get your salary. This forces you to live within your means, and guarantees that you do save every month, regardless of what happens. It’s best if the amount is automatically deducted from your payroll and put into a separate account. Talk to your bank.
• Leave credit cards at home. Even if you don’t carry cash, if you charge everything, then you spend (and with interest, too!). Until you’ve got the self control, avoid temptation altogether.
• Visualize. Post reminders of what you’re really saving for. If it’s the vacation to Paris, then stick a poster of the Eiffel tower on your office cubicle. If it’s a hefty retirement fund, then clip a picture of that house by the beach you want to spend the rest of your life in.
