According to a recent report by IAB and PwC the revenue from advertising over the internet has broken record levels and reached 4.9 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year. This represents an increase of over 25% as compared to the first quarter of last year. It doesn’t look like this trend is expected to change in the near future either.
The online advertising community has been quite busy in the past few months with some major mergers and acquisitions in the field. Just last month Microsoft announced they will purchase online advertising firm aQuantive for a whapping 6 billion dollars. Other mergers included WPP’s purchase of Real Media and Googles purchase of Doubleclick.
