When you have kids, it’s hard to just buy anything you want just like in your younger days. It’s important then to control one’s impulse to purchase just about anything you desire to have. It’s alright, though, to treat yourself to a new but affordable personal stuff once in a while. It won’t hurt if you buy yourself a new shirt or pants or bag when you have extra money.
As parents, the kids usually come first on the list. It’s a natural instinct to give them their needs first before ours. It’s understandable, too, that parents want to give their children the best things in life. But then again, control is the key if we want to save money.
Make sure that you tell your kids that they can’t always have what they want and that not every time you’re out at the mall, they can buy their stuff. Doing this will let them understand your financial situation and in turn, teach them how to spend money wisely.
