Assess Your Chances Before Applying

So many credit cards are offered nowadays with almost every retail chain, airline and hotel offering us to apply for their card, each offering certain benefits and rewards. While many of these cards are indeed free to maintain and don't incur service charges, so it seems like there are only upsides with no downsides to the cards, be sure to read all the card information before applying.

Some credit cards offer great benefits but also have certain financial and credit requirements to get approved. Many believe that there is no harm in applying since the worst thing that can happen is that you won't get approved. However, you should take into account that denied applications can have a negative impact on your credit score. Be sure to read all the information about the credit card before applying and asses your chances of getting approved.

If you have doubts, try applying for a lower grade card such as gold rather than platinum which may hold the same benefits but require better credit history due to it's increased credit line. In many cases you won't require this larger credit line anyway. Try going online and comparing various credit cards first to find the one or ones that suit you best to avoid multiple applications.
