Avoiding Offshore Pricing Scams

Panama Legal just posted a new segment on their website dedicated to offshore corporate agent scams. The article warns of unprofessional offshore service providers offering limited and often lacking service at a seemingly low price. Panama Law compare this practice to the age old auto dealers scam where they would publish an absurdly low price in the paper just to attract customers. When customers would inquire about the car they would discover the car lacked so many standard features it was practically not fit for sale. This of course didn't matter any more since the auto dealer got what he wanted - the customer's attention and can now sell him another car for a much higher price.

Security has always been a big issue with credit cards. After all, in theory anyone who possesses your card can ring up thousands of dollars in charges to your account. It is amazing though to see the sophisticated security systems in action.

Payday Loans vs. Traditional Bank Loans

The use of payday loans has been a controversial issue for many years. While millions of Americans take advantage of this financial solution every month throughout the country there is growing opposition to system claiming that lenders charge unfair interest rates at the expense of the small consumer who needs the cash.

Don’t Neglect Your (Potential) Customers

Every business owner knows the feeling of spending time and effort to promote their business and attract new customers only to witness a fraction of sale leads actually convert. The main problem business suffer from is that they focus too much on attracting new customers and generating sales leads and not enough on dealing with the leads already received.

Credit Score Catch 22's

SCORE! Educational Centers

I’ve come across an article recently criticizing SCORE! educational centers claiming the centers lead to discipline problems among children due to their untraditional disciplinary approach. As a mother to 2 children who attended SCORE! courses as well as private tutoring I am a strong believer in the SCORE! system and believe their unique disciplinary approach is actually one on the keys to their success.

Traveling With a Budget

We can all use a vacation from time to time and nothing can take our mind of the troubles of our daily routine like doing some traveling. The problem is that many people on vacation tend to forget their day to day worries and spend carelessly not realizing that every vacation comes to an end and things have to eventually be paid off. Vacations are good as long as it’s not a vacation from our senses.

Know When to Step Up

It is a socially acceptable that basically we are in charge of ourselves and are not supposed to get involved in other peoples business unless they ask us to. But there are situations where the right thing to do is just the opposite and we would be doing our friends or our loved ones a great sin by not getting involved and helping out.

Making Money Doing What You Love

The internet has surely contributed a lot to the world's collective pool of knowledge. It's amazing how this new medium has allowed any individual to share their thoughts, ideas and insights with the world simply and easily.

Advances and greater ease of use of blog technology has spurred a tremendous wave of new bloggers posting daily and enriching the web. Most bloggers do so for nothing more than the satisfaction of sharing their ideas with the world.

There are ways though for bloggers to monetize their blogs, making money by simply doing what they enjoy – blogging. Payperpost brings together advertisers and bloggers allowing bloggers to review the services offered by the advertisers giving their objective review while getting paid from the advertiser for the exposure.

Many great services we featured on this site have been offered through their blog marketing system and we feel they have enhanced our site by both providing our readers great new services and helping us keep the site free.

Second Chance Investment Opportunities

With real estate values at all time highs and recent indication that a slow down is under way, investors are now more cautious with their locations trying to pinpoint those locations that can still offer value. Prison Shanks from Credit Cards?

Our friends at YourCreditNetwork don’t stop to come up with new ideas and uses for credit cards. Sometimes their imagination takes them a bit too far… :) Yesterday they featured a post on how to make prison shanks from old credit cards (don’t worry, they made clear that the post is a joke). Those Good Old Days

Remember the days when all you needed to occupy a sick at home kid was a pad of dress up paper dolls? I sure miss those days. Not only because it was easier to occupy kids but because kids used to have much calmer pass times. Sometimes I think life was kind of better at a slower pace.

Nowadays it seems that any game that doesn’t flash and make noises give adults a headache just don’t appeal to kids anymore. But maybe there is a future to paper dolls, albeit an evolved future. In an age were the key word is virtual with kids flocking to sites like Neopets and webkinz, a new type of paper doll is now available.

Yup, you got it a virtual paper doll. Cartoon Doll Emporium now allows kids to play with virtual paper dolls just as their parents would (but with actual paper). The new feature appeals to kids as it speaks their digital language while making their parents happy seeing their kids enjoying a more relaxing game they can relate to.

Saving (Despite) Human Psychology

It’s amazing how human psychology works. We spend so much time investigating and doing our research before major transactions in order to get the best deal and save as much money as possible. Whether it’s taking out our mortgage, student loan or any other major transaction, we can spend an enormous amount of time running from bank to bank checking out every option trying to save fractions of percentage points. But once the loan is approved we tend to forget about it and never bother trying to improve its terms even when possible and event when doing can save substantial sums.

Term of the Day

We are looking for some new ways to make your reading experience more interesting and have been trying to come up with ideas for a few regular columns to appear once or twice a week. One idea sent in by a reader was to add a term of the day section to the site. The idea is to take a financial term that comes up on the news everyday and offer a short explanation. We don’t plan on a very extensive explanation, rather something you can go over with your coffee. We like this idea very much but are not sure yet how frequent to do it. Every day might be a bit too often, perhaps 2 or 3 times a week. We will publish further updates next week and are always open to your suggestions so be sure to send us and email with your thoughts.

Viva la Diva!

I came across a website that is already selling campaign T shirts for the 2008 elections. One thing that attracted my attention right away was how different the Hillary Clinton t-shirts are to what we are used to in campaign clothing. They just didn’t look like normal political T shirts. And then it hit me. This is one of the many things we will start to get used to over the next coming months. Things just are different when dealing with a female candidate.

These shirts have just that – a female touch. They are actually nice shirts to wear even if you are not political or don’t support Hillary. Some even just say “Hillary” on them and don’t mention the elections. They really look like regular fashionable clothing. Viva la Diva!

Control Your Shopping Impulse

When you have kids, it’s hard to just buy anything you want just like in your younger days. It’s important then to control one’s impulse to purchase just about anything you desire to have. It’s alright, though, to treat yourself to a new but affordable personal stuff once in a while. It won’t hurt if you buy yourself a new shirt or pants or bag when you have extra money.

Plastic Money

An article posted on Goldstarcredit.net titled credit cards: friend or foe discusses the darker side of holding on to a credit card. While credit cards per se definitely can’t be
called a bad thing and their usefulness to card holders is a well known fact, the article discusses proper care necessary to prevent unwanted debt.

It is a known problem that people tend not to “feel” credit card expenses as they would with cash. Without witnessing the physical depletion of a certain amount of cash, people don’t realize how their spending is adding up and can be faced with an unpleasant surprise at the end of the month. This phenomena is what gave credit cards the knick name “plastic money” as a play on words since the card is plastic and the money spent appears quite fake (like plastic).

This is the same concept that casino operators discovered a long time ago and is one of the reasons they use plastic chips to represent money. When players gamble on chips they tend to forget the money it represents and bet more freely than they would with “real” money. The article by Goldstarcredit.net tries to encourage users to realize the responsibility that comes with their cards.

Don't Overpay on Insurance

Have you looked at your insurance policy renewal bills lately? Well first of all, if you haven’t – you definitely should. As a habit, be sure to go over all the bills you receive at least briefly, it can save you a lot of money and trouble in case of mistakes. Anyway, those of you who have may have noticed some unpleasant surprises in terms of policy price increases.

Insurance companies have explanations for everything, and will tell you that with recent events both in terms of weather and other, the risks to houses are higher so you must pay a higher premium on your home insurance. Similar “explanations” are available for life insurance and car insurance increases by insurance agents.

While these may be true, you don’t have to accept the sentence with your hands folded. Be sure to go online and compare prices before renewing ANY insurance policy even if the prices haven’t gone up. You may be able to save anyway.

Saving Money On Food

Food is a primary need but just like any other aspect of our daily life, we can save money by making wise purchases on what we eat. Good budgeting is always an admirable trait.

To save money on food, why not plan ahead on what you need at home. If buy by bulk like for a week’s use, you will surely spend less instead of buying convenience food.

Use coupons and do spend time clipping them from your weekly newspapers. Organize them by type so when shopping time comes, it will be easy for you to take out the ones you will need.

Comparing Insurance Quotes

Further to our earlier post about comparing insurance prices. A good resource to use is Insurance.com’s price comparison feature. Their site acts like a shopping search engine for insurance quotes. You can enter your information on an online form and their system provides you with instant actual quotes from a number of insurance companies. The site provides quotes for any type of insurance including life insurance, car insurance, home insurance and more. After you have received your quotes you can either apply for a policy online or use their call center to speak with an insurance specialist to help you with the process. I like their motto: “May the best quote win”, that’s a good way to look at things…

Make Your Business Budget Go Farther

Many small businesses discover at an early stage that competing with their larger competitors requires them to find ways to stretch their budget. It’s no use taking on large companies with big pockets head on since their budget will always be larger. That’s why the way to win is not by force but by acting wisely.

As any manager knows, the two most expensive factors for businesses are salaries and equipment. Managing manpower properly is obviously a key point for businesses but sometimes there isn’t much to be done. However, in many cases companies buy expensive equipment which can be important for their business but are actually very frequently used.

Lowest Bid Wins

For this weekend we thought we’d bring you a fun site we came across. Check out Bid4Prizes.com, they developed a new fun way to win prizes. The website features a list of “auctions” in which cool prizes are offered. The prizes include plasma TV’s, Apple Iphone’s and even a new BMW.

The funny thing though that unlike any other auction you’ve ever encountered, in order to win this auction you actually have to offer the lowest bid. Yes, you read correctly the lowest bid. But there is one catch, it has to be the lowest unique bid. At the end of the game, the lowest bid value that only had one person bid that sum makes that person the winner.

I am personally going for the BMW myself, so please don’t underbid me…. :)

U.S.D Not Getting Far In the Euro Region

As summer approaches, millions of Americans across the country planning their summer vacation are realizing how the current week dollar can affect each an every one of us personally. American travelers planning trips abroad and funding their trip in dollar but paying in Euro’s, Pounds, Yen etc. are witnessing how their hard earned dollars just aren’t getting them as far as they would in the past.

Recently the USD has reached a long time low of $2 per British Pound that means that every dollar can only pay for half a British Pound worth of merchandize. The continuous depreciation of the US Dollar is making European travel and especially traveling within the UK very expensive. Hotel and transport prices have not gone down in the local currency so Americans are paying a higher price compared to what they would only a year ago.

This is now working the other way around for foreign tourists visiting the United States. United States tourism with prices marked in U.S. Dollars has become a relatively cheep destination for travelers paying in Euros.

New Breed Of Political Debate

Although elections are still over year and a half away, the political arena is definitely heating up. It seems this time around, the online community is taking a big role in the political converse. The Blogosphere is definitely adopting this election with blogs dedicated to all sides of the political spectrum.

One blog called Ultra Conservative 2.0 definitly takes the definition of conservative blog to the extreme. There is no doubt as to the author’s opinions and he takes no measures to disguise his bias. I guess his title tag says it all – “A new breed of conservative”. It looks like all in all, the web is bringing on many new breeds of political debates.

Another Kind of Budgetting

Our regular readers know how much we stress here at Credit Card Diva the importance of setting yourself a budget and making sure you stick to it. Well, I wanted to share with you my own personal budget I set for myself. Only this time it’s not about money, it’s about calories. I always had a problem sticking to my diet, no matter how good I am and how much self discipline I have in other aspects of my life, when it comes to food I just give in.

Recently I began the calorie counting system. I figure this could work for me since it works kind of like personal finance. My plan is to enter everything I eat during the day into an online free calorie counter which tells me how much each item of food is “worth”. So far I’ve been sticking to my diet, but it has only been a week and a half so I’m not sure if it is due to the calorie counter or not. In any case, it’s a good start and I’m optimistic. Cross your fingers for me…

Growing Your Business

There are many aspects to growing and maintaining a successful business but now business can get off the ground without properly taking care of sales leads. The best way to drive a business into the ground is by neglecting sales leads. No matter how much you invest in other aspects of your business, if you neglect your sales leads the rest becomes irrelevant.

There are a number of lead management solutions available in the market today, each offering various features and advantages. One of the most feature rich lead management programs today is available from AIM Promote who really took lead management to the next level. While their program is feature rich they also allow you to customize your view to display only features and options relevant to your business making integration a breeze.

Airlines today offer promos and cheap airfares every now and then. You just have to check them out in advance. For more convenience, you can even book and buy your plane ticket on the internet without leaving your home. Some airlines offer special internet prices so go online when you can.

Smile - You've Got Cash!

There are so many credit card in the market now and it seems every bank is working head over heals to try and come up with a more original benefit plan for their card holders. Simply offering airline miles (while many times prove the most profitable benefit) has gone out of style long ago. Card issuers are offering anything from free gas to special discounts at various retail stores. Some cards are issued together with certain hotel chains offering upgrades on your stay and some try to cater more to the corporate world with business credit cards. But it is my opinion that if you want to offer a benefit, keep it straight forward and simple. That is why I like the smile credit card so much. In addition to other benefits, they offer a 0.5% cash back on all your purchases. So instead of figuring out what all the other benefits are worth, why not simply go for cash? We all know what that's worth…

Getting More Website Traffic

More and more businesses are realizing the potential of the internet. Theoretically, the internet provides any marketers dream, an almost unlimited potential market base. However, setting up a website and placing your products online for sale are just the beginning. Don’t expect sales to start pouring in simply because you created a website online. That was the easy part, now you have to get customers to hear about your site and actually get visitors to enter. Otherwise it’s like opening a store in the living room of your apartment and being surprised why there are no shoppers.

Shop Wisely

Being practical is an admirable trait these days. It’s more about making the right purchases at lesser costs or what they call getting more value for your money. Many marketing firms do this today to attract more consumers.

When shopping, being practical and wise are essential. Compare prices from the ones you see at department stores and those on the internet. You must know that some websites offer special internet prices so you may opt to shop for some of your needs online and just have them delivered to your home.

Do be familiar with seasonal sales, too. Many stores hold bargain promos during specific times of the year.

You can also use coupons when buying online. You can search for these online coupons quickly while purchasing on the internet and save as much as 15 percent with just a click of the mouse.

Use credit cards wisely and go for those that offer special perks like airline miles and cash rebates.

Do shop free of tax. Several states offer tax-free shopping weekends usually in the early part of August. During that time, you can already shop early for your winter clothes.

Debt Consolidation Plans

Dealing with debt can be very challenging and having to live your life with the constant burden of multiple debts can be overwhelming. Trying to get out of the cycle of debt is tough and often people find themselves taking out more loans just to pay off existing ones. The best way to deal with multiple loans is to apply for a debt consolidation plan, this way you work a payment plan that is realistic for you to pay back and you get rid of multiple payments charged per month from a number of loans. This is very similar to the better known process of a student loan consolidation.

Silicone Valley Votes Al

A recent poll among Silicon Valley executives gives the best running chance for the democratic presidential candidate to a surprising name. The reason this name is surprising is because he is not even running. According to the survey, most Silicon Valley executives would prefer Al Gore as the democratic candidate over any of the actual running candidates

While I don’t think this will get Al back in the race again, maybe the rest of our politicians can learn something from this. Perhaps the way to get elected is by not trying so much. Rather than spending all this time, money and effort on campaigning, let’s see our candidates try to “sell” themselves by their actions rather than sales pitch.

Age of Choice

We are living in the age of choice. It’s nothing but amazing to see the amount of new products coming out each day. By the time I brought my new phone to brag about it in front of my friends, a newer phone was already introduced on the market. Well okay, that didn’t really happen. But it sometimes seems so.

But the choices don’t end there. Even after you bought your phone, you can still customize it with an enormous range of accessories. You can customize your gear with optional earphones, colorful panels, optional cell phone cases and more. While multiple accessories are available for almost every phone model, finding them in stores is not easy. That’s why I was so happy to discover the Accessory Geek website. I was so surprised by the huge supply of different accessories they carry for almost every phone. They truly are the accessory geeks…

Care for Your Loved Ones

We talk a lot about self improvement on our blog and about building a better future for yourself and your loved ones. It’s ironic at how we look at our role in the lives of those closest to us. There is never any hesitation regarding caring and making sure our loved ones are secure financially and we don’t hesitate to get involved in cases of financial aid or when we believe our friends or family are making the wrong decisions.

Stick to What You Do Best

When running a business the natural tendency is to try to overextend yourself. Be it to save on expenses or do to micromanagement, we tend to try to do as much as possible in house. The most common mistakes young businesses make are trying to run their own marketing campaigns rather than hiring a professional agency or try to do other things in house. Sooner or later businesses realize that the cheaper solution can cost them a lot in the broader picture, either due to the longer execution time or to taking management’s focus off of their core business.

Your Life is Online - Take Care of It

Our computers have certainly taken over our lives. Without even realizing, we are using our computers more and more and even more important – we are growing dependant on them. So many people now don’t even bother developing their pictures and simply save a digital album of all their family pictures. In addition, almost all our work and savings information is stored on our computers. But how secure is all this? Can you imaging loosing all this information?

The problem is, not many people take the proper measures to keep their data safe and secure. A new service called IDrive-E Online Backup tries to help solve this situation. They provide a free virtual drive accessible over the internet where you can save backup version of your files absolutely free. I guess the companies motto says it all: “Our mission is to save the world, one computer at a time”. I don’t know about you, but I would like my computer to be one of the first….

Not So Free Net

If you are reading this page, you can consider yourself in the lucky part of the world. A new study by OpenNet Initiative shows that the internet is not as free and unrestricted as previously considered. The study showed that at least 25 countries around the world limit their citizens’ access to the internet.

China, Iran, Burma, Syria, Tunisia and Vietnam lead the list of countries limiting internet access to their citizens for political reasons. Other countries were reported to limit their citizens’ access to content considered unethical or in conflict with local and official religion such as pornographic content.

That is why it was so important for them to create this wonderful place where they can provide others with the help and care that they once received.

Forces of a Global Economy

We live in a global economy, that’s not new. But some facts just point that out in an amazing way. I sometimes find it fascinating to see how seemingly unrelated things affect one another. Financial times have reported that retail food prices are expected to rise in 2007 in the sharpest rate for the last 30 years.

But what I find interesting is what is affecting these prices. According to the report, the ongoing growth in use of bio diesels as well as the tremendous growth in certain economies such as China and India are affecting the cost of production. The next time you fill your tank with bio diesel, think of the higher corn prices you are paying at the market and you will understand that you can’t burn your corn and eat it too.

Adolescent Drug Treatment

Although we hope none of our readers will have to deal with these situations, we have been receiving a lot of positive feedback regarding our previous two posts on dealing with drug addictions among our loved ones. A very special program has come to our attention which is very unique since it deals with drug and alcohol treatment among youth. The Echo Malibu teen treatment center focuses on adolescent drug treatment and have developed special programs aimed at this very special demographic. Echo Malibu’s staff understand the constant struggle everyone involved with adolescent addictions have to deal with and offer support and guidance for the youth’s family in addition to the professional treatment provided to the young patient.

Save Energy And Money

Summer is coming and the air conditioning unit gears up for its daily use when the heat is on again. Did you know that the air conditioning system takes up 70 percent of summer energy costs in the U.S.? In fact, using an AC for 12 hours daily for three weeks consumes more energy than leaving a refrigerator door open round the clock for the whole year.

In order to save money and energy, you may want to have your home’s energy consumption audited. Many utility firms do energy audits for free or for a very small fee. They can help you determine the trouble areas and make suggestions.

Summer Plans

Both of my older children have attended the Score program in the past and at least with the case of the younger of the two, the results were simply a miracle. She had specific difficulty with reading and kept on being bounced from teacher to teacher in her school to try and help her, but they just added more frustration. Score was the first to really make an improvement.

I’m working on summer plans for my youngest now and am considering sending him to a summer program by Score. He does pretty well in school, but we just love the program and believe it can benefit him as well.

Health Insurance

We discuss a lot the importance of saving and investing in your future. However one of the most important investments you can make is sometimes overlooked. While taking out a health insurance plan isn’t necessarily for everyone it is something you should definitely consider and at least invest in the time to do the proper research to determine the right move for you. While health insurance may not seem like an investment per se since it does not provide growth in terms of money, health insurance can be the smartest move in securing your future.

Running A Smooth Business

Running a successful business depends on many factors but I find that in so many cases businesses can lag on performance for the most trivial reasons. It is not uncommon for businesses to run short on certain office supplies which can put a dent in performance for a couple of days until the proper supplies are replenished. Another common scene is for entire offices to be literally shut down due to system failures with their computers systems. This is very annoying since the cost to fix these issues or even prevent them can be a fraction of the damage they cause, especially at this age of having everything at your fingertips using the internet. It is so easy to order discount office supplies online from reliable sources like Rapid Supplies and have your equipment delivered next day via FedEx. Also, online stores like Rapid Supplies can make it easy to find the exact supplies you need since online stores tend to carry a much larger variety than their traditional brick and mortar counterparts.

Overseas Real Estate Investments

The ongoing deterioration of the U.S. dollar has gotten many Americans thinking about their investment strategies. While most investors have adopted the importance of diversifying their investments, their diversification has traditionally been limited to various sectors and investment tools but still limited to dollar investments. As Americans witness their assets shrink in terms of foreign buying power due to the ever weaker dollar, many are realizing the importance of diversifying their investments to include foreign currencies as well and limit their dependency on the direction of the U.S. dollar.

Your Computer Doesn't Hate You

“My computer hates me” – if I had a dollar for every time I heard that sentence I would be a millionaire. The situation is always the same, a friend calls me up telling me that just as he was about to print out his final version of the report he spent weeks working on, his computer crashed and his data was lost. While I don’t think the computer timed this intentionally and seriously doubt it hates my friend, I am sure the blame is not on the computer but on my friend.

Computers are just like that – they tend to crash and can lose your data. It is up to you to back it up. The good news is that backing up you work is now easier than ever. No longer do you have to bother with burning multiple CD’s every day and constantly filing the latest version. IBackup offers an online storage solution which acts as an additional drive on your computer. Files can easily be dragged and dropped between the local computer and the online server and automatic backups can be scheduled to keep daily or weekly versions of important files. As an added bonus, since the data is stored online, sharing data is as easy as accessing the internet.

Succeeding Among Giants

The early days of the internet brought tremendous promise with them. It seemed like start ups were being created by cookie cutters and everybody was sure that by building a website and putting things up for sale they will be a sure success. After all, how can you go wrong with a multi million person potential customer base? While some huge success stories emerged from the internet boom, many smaller sites got hit by reality. They realized it just isn’t enough to place your products online. Forces of competition apply in the virtual arena just as it does in traditional markets.

Plan Ahead

You know the old 80-20 rule? There are many variations to this, it can be that 80% of your income is form 20% of your customers or as it turns out that in many cases 80% of your attention goes to 20% of your work. While the second is not necessarily a bad thing, when the 20% is just crisis management and dealing with problems, you know something is not running as efficiently as it should.

The problem is usually due to the lack of planning ahead. When things run smoothly we don’t think about how they can go wrong. I’ve come across so many cases where businesses wasted entire days due to a lost data crisis as a result of a computer crash. No one bothered to back up their data since such a thing never happened to them before. This kind of thinking leads to the 80-20 situation we mentioned before. Smarter organizations would have the insight to invest in an online backup solution which would have then back up and running within hours rather than spend days perhaps taking a loss due to impossible to recover data.

Do Your Homework

Sometimes I find human psychology quite amusing. There’s no doubt that the internet has revolutionized the way we shop and has much improved our pre purchase research. However the majority of people limit the use of the internet for small purchases such as books, small electronic appliances and more. While these purchases shouldn’t be dismissed (Amazon made a nice fortune from selling these items), consumers can save much more if they would use the power of the web for some of their larger purchase.

Don’t Let Minor Issues Get You Distracted

Running a smooth business is all about not letting the small issues distract your attention from the important things. The problem is that no matter how large your business is and no matter how you would like not to deal with certain small issues, sometimes the most insignificant problem can disrupt your entire operation.

I remember when we created a very important presentation only to discover that our projector was out of commission. You should have seen how everyone from the C.E.O to the cleaning crew were making calls trying to get a projector in time for the presentation due that week. Looking back on the situation, it was probably more cost effective just to buy a new projector since we wasted so much time trying to find one.

But the best solution was one we simply weren’t aware of at the time. It is so easy now that we know of projector123.com. They offer projector rentals which are delivered to your door via FedEx. The process is so simple it is even more convenient that owning one yourself since you know it will always be in working order and can order one when you need it. Also, the price is very reasonable at only about $99 a day. This is very affordable if you don’t use a projector that much. Obviously though, if you need one on a daily basis, you are better off purchasing one.

Self Certification Mortgages

The banking industry can be confusing and often quite frustrating. The problem is that we depend on these financial institutions to grant us our loans, mortgages and more but don’t always fall into their clear cut set of rules. As part of the processes the bank takes to ensure the return of its loans, the bank tries to assess each loan case to determine the risk involved and how credible a borrower you are. Unfortunately making a good impression and throwing smiles at the bankers attention just don’t cut it and you must provide the exact documentation and credentials the bank is set up to work with.

There are however some cases where it is difficult to provide the proper proof of income the bank wishes to base your loan upon. This is typical for self employed individuals as well as contractors freelances or anyone else who doesn’t receive a steady paycheck as a salary based employee. There are solutions for these types of borrowers too. This is where self certification mortgages come in. With a self certification mortgage, the bank takes other factors into considerations and may also require a larger deposit. A great site offering help and resources on all types of loans including self cert loans is available online at mortgage250.co.uk. While a self employed borrower’s options may be more limited, a self cert mortgage helps come over the largest obstacle in getting a loan approved.

Construction Loans

Any successful contractor will tell you that the key to managing successful and profitable construction projects involves efficient work at precision timing. Since time is money and this is especially true for construction projects, timing each job efficiently can be the difference between a profitable project and a bust.

The same goes with getting the proper finance for your project. There are many ways to fund each project and the key is knowing which type of loan or funding source is right for each individual project. Many banks offer various types of construction loans which are generally suited for construction projects and the funds are typically released based on the project’s building schedule. However, the process of funding your project via a construction loan involves providing proper documentation to your bank depending on certain milestones reached in construction.

A good resource for construction and remodeling loans is available at constructionloancenter.com. It pays to be prepared properly and do your research before taking out your loan since just as with building, having your loan delayed due to a problem with paperwork or other cause can result in a loss for your project. In addition to providing a wide range of construction loan opportunities the site also publishes many articles with tips and advice to find the best financial solutions for your construction projects.

Rebuilding Your Credit

The credit system in the United States can prove quite frustrating if you find yourself suffering from a low credit score. The problem is that it can act as a catch 22 – if you have bad credit, you are most likely to have your credit card applications declined. However, one of the best ways to build credit is by taking out a credit card and maintaining timely payments. But how do you take out a card if you already have bad credit? Thankfully, card issuers provide a solution to this well known problem and many offer a special bad credit card which is intended for consumers with poor to no credit. These cards are an ideal way to start rebuilding your credit again.

The End of the American Dream?

According to a recent study published in the Financial Times yesterday, the average income for men in their 30’s is now lower than the pro rated income of men in their 30’s back in the 60’s. This means that 40 years later with all the advancements in the economy, men are actually making less. The article was titled “The end of the American dream?” I don’t know about that and I think the data was a bit misinterpreted since the data doesn’t show a steady decline, rather simply a dip in the past few years. In any case, the average household income is actually higher thanks to a higher rate of women in the workforce.

Research Before Applying

Loans have always been a controversial topic. While it is quite clear that the economy simply would not be able to function without the power of borrowing money, some consumers have negative connotations regarding loans. The problem is that when handled incorrectly and irresponsibly loans can become a burden rather than a useful financial tool.

The key is to recognize when it is correct to take out a loan and to have a clear plan for paying it off. Also, it is important to take note of the various types of loans available since the right financial solution can prevent future problems with payments. This is why mortgages are typically paid off over a period of twenty or thirty years and bears a low interest rate due to the low risk involved as opposed to a consumer loan which can have a return period of only a few years and typically bears a higher interest rate.

While it can be pretty tempting taking out various loans especially nowadays when it seems we are surrounded by loan offers, always do your homework first to make sure you are taking out the loan that is best for your situation. Quite often, a little research will either find you a cheaper loan with a lower APR. Over the course of the loan the difference in APR can save you a lot of money.

A Few Energy Saving Tips

Have your air conditioning unit checked every year and its coils cleaned. Dirt buildup usually causes poor efficiency.

Maintain your AC’s coolant or freon levels for energy efficiency.

Regularly clean or replace your air filter at least once every month. A clean filter can reduce your AC’s energy by five to 15 percent.

Make sure you have good weatherproofing in your home to avoid air leaks which can cause one-third of cooling costs.

Focus On Your Business

People tend to think that all their business needs is setting up a website and orders will start flowing in. Then they go about setting it up and they realize there is no “just” about it. Suddenly people realize they have to go to one place and register a domain, after that they must find a good hosing company and set up their domain to work with the host. Things don’t end there, you still need to set up an email server, possibly a database and so much more.
That’s why I prefer working with all inclusive companies like SuperWebhost. They provide all the services you need in order to set up your online presence. This way you can focus on what you do best and build your business rather than spend all your time on technical issues.

Knowledge at the Time of Need

There is nothing worse than the feeling of wanting to help someone you care about but you just don’t know how. It is in our nature to try and provide the best possible help and advice to our loved ones at their time of need, but some circumstances simply catch us off guard and leave us helpless.

One of the first thing you notice when running a business is that your requirements from certain things can be quite different than what you were used to in your personal financial life. Keep Your Bills Low

Too much energy consumption has taken a toll on our mother nature. Each of us then has a role to play to save our environment and promote energy efficiency even at home.

At home, there are so many things we can do to save energy and money. Foremost is to maintain our appliances, roof as well as our air conditioning and heating systems. Appliances that use electricity should be cleaned regularly. The refrigerator should not be opened very often. Lights should be turned off when not in use.

Click2Map Almost Out of Beta

If you haven’t tried Google Maps yet you definitely don’t know what you’re missing. But even for those who have tried Google Maps and enjoy using it often, unless they tried out the new Click2Map by Hyliosoft –they don’t know what they are missing. Click2Map was developed by a French internet development company named HylioSoft. The program utilizes rich internet technological features similar to the technology used for Google Maps itself. This allows all the great features and benefits brought by Google Maps but with some increasable enhancements. The best thing is that it makes creating the most out of Google Maps easy since unlike Google Maps, Click2Map is not intended for programmers. In fact, with Click2Map you can create the most advanced Google Maps with customized points of interest and not write a single line of code. Click2Map’s visual interface allows you to choose your options on screen and the program takes care of the coding for you.

While Google Maps had great success among internet developers, the fact that you need advanced programming knowledge in order to operate the funcions supported by Google Map’s API set of tools deterred many from using it and limited it’s potential audience. Click2Map was created with non programmers in mind allowing them to manage and publish online maps without the need for programming knowledge.

The program is currently still in beta and a final version is expected sometime next month. In the meantime browsers to their site are encouraged to try out the beta version which works quite well by now. You need to register in order to use the program but registration is free and simple and only requires an email address. It is interesting to follow the development of the project since new releases (in the beta version) have been released practically every few days lately.
