It’s a reality that many people now do financial transactions online. However, with various scams threatening security, it’s best to be always prepared. Financial experts recommend changing your account passwords at least twice every year.
Passwords, in order not to be easily deciphered, should use a mix of letters, numbers and random punctuation marks. And please, never use your dog’s name or birthdays. Use words separated by a character that lets you use the shift key and nonsensical words which you can remember and that includes numbers or characters. And if you wish, you can inform a loved one about your passwords for emergency cases.
Apart from your PWs, take other steps as well to secure your accounts. If possible, don’t keep vital information on any handheld device like your PDAs or mobile phones.
Ignore emails from banks you are not doing business with. Delete them from your list right away.
Check regularly your credit card and bank account statements to make sure that no illicit transactions are included.
